For this technical rating position, STCW regulations distinguish two options:
1. Rating forming part of an engineering watch = STCW-III/4
2. Rating as AB Engine = STCW-III/5
In most instances motormen are in possession of STCW-III/4. The motorman with the “AB Engine” CoC will have been trained to a higher level of understanding and subsequently is able to take on more responsibility. If you want to empower the motormen on your fleet and let them become a more competent and fully integrated member of an engineering watch team than this training will accomplish just that.
During this 5-day course we will teach essential knowledge about working principles, correct operation, and performance levels of:
Engines – Generators – Propulsion – Steam systems – AC & Refrigeration – Bilge – Ballast – Black/Grey – Safety systems – EGCS – Compressors – Stabilizers - Purifiers
The training consists of a theoretical part which is concluded with an exam followed by the completion of tasks in an “on board training record book”. The Chief Engineer on board will sign off on the completion of these practical training tasks. That’s when the STCW-III/5 CoC can be applied for with the respective Flag State.
This training is in accordance with STCW requirements, in fact exceeds these requirements. The quality of teaching is high with excellent modern material made by maritime professionals. We will provide participants with the “on board training record books”.
